KickStart Breakfast has served over 50 million breakfasts!
Since 2009, KickStart Breakfast has been providing schools around the motu with the goodness of Anchor milk and Sanitarium Weet-Bix.
Serving 50 million breakfasts is more than just providing our tamariki and rangatahi | children and young people with nutritious kai.
KickStart Breakfast Relationship Manager, Tracey, says "We look at this milestone as having helped kick start 50 million possibilities for our students. Things helping teach lifelong lessons, growing leaders, helping build positive relationships between peers and with their teachers, bringing communities together and increasing the overall community support within local schools."
Waitara Central School principal, Vicki Kahu-Pukoro, says the programme has impacted her students significantly in offering an environment which encourages diverse social elements. “Many interactions happen at breakfast club – for our tamariki this is a way to be with their friends, share a meal together, catch up on life and talk about their day."
“It’s a safe and welcoming environment that presents many opportunities for students and staff to engage in whakawhanaungatanga (the process of establishing relationships, relating well to others)”.
In providing kai and guidance to help schools run a successful, sustainable breakfast club Kickstart Breakfast also helps bring the wider community together, connecting whānau, staff and volunteers to enable possibilities for our future generations.
“The fact that we have such caring and welcoming whānau helpers is also another reason our tamariki love to go every day” says Vicki.
KickStart Breakfast is proud to help create endless possibilities for our tamariki and rangatahi!
A warm 50 million 'thank you's' to our volunteers, student leaders, staff and schools who make KickStart Breakfast happen each day.
