KickStart Breakfast Club Story - Kaikohe East School

The KickStart Breakfast programme is growing from strength to strength, serving over 45 million breakfasts to schools across New Zealand. Along with our partners at Sanitarium and the Ministry of Social Development, we’ve been supporting our communities for over 12 years.

Our programme is made possible by an amazing network of volunteers, teachers, community groups and students who help facilitate these breakfast clubs at their schools.

Nicky Raxworthy is the backbone of Breakfast Club at Kaikohe East School, “'I really enjoy running the Breakfast Club at Kaikohe East School. Their delight at getting a warm breakfast on a cold morning is the best feeling as I can see firsthand how much of a difference breakfast club makes when they start the day with a full puku. I get to have morning chats with all the tamariki who come in and they always make me smile with their stories, their interactions with each other and their keenness to awhi their friends and whanau to also come into the hall and have a kai is heartwarming. Thanks Fonterra kickstart breakfast programme for support our school with this initiative. It really makes a difference!”

We look forward to growing and working with our schools to help make sure kids continue to get a healthy start to life through Breakfast Clubs across the country.
